Javanese Traditional Art Of Batik---Indonesian Batik has become one of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity according to UNESCO. It has a rich of symbolism related to social status, local community, nature, history and cultural heritage and yet describe the art that not only express creativity, but also spirituality, especially the Javanese Batik.
Literally, Batik in Javanese came from the word “amba” (it means writing) and “nitik” (means dots). Batik is the work of art, moreover in Java, Batik is full of art and philosophy. The tradition art of batik commonly is a heritage that pass from old generation to the young in one family, that the origin of a pattern even can lead to certain family. It also show the status of the bearer, yet until nowadays, traditional classic Batik only used by Jogjakarta and Surakarta royal families.
Centuries ago the Batik pattern art dominated with flora and fauna. Later on they turn into so many abstract motif such as clouds, temples, Beber puppet and so on. As the development of the drawing and clothing decoration, came to the present batik patterns.
